A middenberm session

I had a great photoshoot at the Middenberm Trials in Scheveningen, The Netherlands. They are such great trails with jumps starting really small and ending really big!

I was picked up by Roy Groenewegen and Stuart Gibson at Den Haag Central Station and after a short drive we arrived at the trails.

These trails have been built by the SDG crew and are a pain to photograph sometimes. The last jump is soooo big and there is little space to be creative in when you’re standing next to the jumps.

So I wanted to try something new for myself. Some have tried to stand on the last big jump or to climb in the trees around it, but I didn’t found that the best way to work. I looked for a solution to get my camera almost anywhere I liked it to be using a telescopic pole.

After attaching my DSLR with a fisheye lens on the pole and getting it triggered with a trigger system I looked for nice angles. This was hard because I don’t use a secondary LCD screen in combination with Live View on the camera. But after some training I was able to get close to the results I was looking for.

Many riders were coming to the trails but half of them went to other trails after we arrived. But with Stef, Bou and Roy still there and hitting the jumps, it was just great for making some sweet shots and to have a great day with mates on and off the bike.

Here are some shots, I can’t wait to go back and get this pole technique perfected and to have a great time once again.

I don’t like this angle, but it was a sick backflip Boudewijn!

This shot hasd been Photo Of the Day (POD) on Pinkbike

What about this one, a no-handed no footed can can.

This is a very nasty shot Boudewijn posing haha, I got some worse shot’s but it won’t do us both any good if I post them here.

That’s a wrap!
